Create California Colleges Account - Visit www.californiacolleges.edu and create an account. Use CaliforniaColleges.edu to explore careers, California colleges, and to find out more information about financial aid.

September:

Senior College & Career Assemblies - If you missed the Counseling Department's Senior College & Career Assembly make sure you visit www.cnusd.k12.ca.us/Page/36341 and check out the PowerPoint of the presentation. The senior booklet is also posted on the website or you can retrieve a hard copy from the College & Career Center located in the library.

General Scholarships - Begin to periodically visit www.cnusd.k12.ca.us/Page/15227 and click on "General Scholarships" to find out about scholarships that are available to students nationwide.

College Presentations - Sign up to attend a presentation by local community colleges, and four year institutions from throughout California and across the United States to find out more about their programs and what they have to offer. October:

Junior/Senior Parent Financial Aid Night - October 21st from 5:30pm-6:30pm in the Theater

SHS Counseling Dept. College & Career Fair - October 21st from 6:30pm-8:00pm in the Gym

November:

ASVAB Career Interest Assessment - November 5th from 8:00am-12:00pm in the Theater. Please sign up in the College & Career Center.

December:

SHS Counseling Depart. Local Scholarships - Applications become available December 1st. Download your local scholarships application at www.cnusd.k12.ca.us/Page/21554.

ASVAB Scores Back Day - December 3rd in the Theater, time TBA.

Community College Applications Windows - California community college application windows begin to open as soon as December. Check each college to which you plan to apply for specific dates and deadlines.

Santiago Canyon Community College Application Workshop -Tuesday, December 15th from 9 - 11 a.m. Sign up in the College & Career Center.

January:

FAFSA Financial Aid Application Priority Filing Period for California is January 1st - March 2, 2016. Be first in line to apply for financial aid. Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Financial Aid Workshop - January 21, 2016 from 6:00pm-7:30pm in the Theater. Presentation by a college financial aid advisor on applying for financial aid.

Santiago Canyon Community College Application Workshop -January 26th from 9 - 11 a.m. Sign up in the College & Career Center.

February:

Norco College Fieldtrip - Field Trip to Norco College, including application workshop for both Norco College and the Summer Advantage Program - Friday, February 6th from 9 - 1 p.m.

Local Scholarships - Applications due February 12, 2016 in the College & Career center by 3pm. Download your local scholarships application at www.cnusd.k12.ca.us/Page/21554. Late applications will not be accepted.

Norco College Placement Test (Summer Advantage Students) - Special dates have been set aside for students interested in participating in Norco College's Summer Advantage program to take math and writing placement tests. See Ms. Machado in the College & Career Center for questions.

Spring 2016 National College Fair (Orange County, Anaheim Convention Center) - April 22, 2016 9:30am-1:00pm the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) is sponsoring this event to help students become familiar with the colleges in their area, as well as financial aid opportunities to help fund their education. The Transfer Process Workshop - Learn about what it takes to transfer successfully from a community college to a four year university, what some of the pitfalls are that students run into that keeps them at the community college level longer than necessary, and how this could affect your financial aid.
