United States Service Academies
Students interested in attending a service academy should begin researching
academic, physical-fitness, medical, and leadership requirements early in
high school. Applying to an academy and applying for a nomination are
separate processes.
Start early: Students should review each academy’s
requirements before the beginning of their junior year and develop a plan
for academics, standardized testing, physical preparation, leadership, and
community involvement.
Service Academy Nominations
Applicants should pursue every nomination source for which they are
eligible. Application periods, requirements, and deadlines change, so
students must consult each office’s official website.
The United States Coast Guard Academy does not require or consider a
congressional nomination.
Presidential and other service-connected nominations may be available to
applicants who meet specific military-family eligibility requirements.
Students should review the nomination guidance provided by each academy.
ROTC Scholarships and College Financial Aid
Cadets interested in ROTC scholarships or service-academy opportunities
are encouraged to begin early and speak with an AFJROTC instructor or
school counselor for assistance.
