Homecoming Nominations

Pg. 1 - Homecoming Queen Nominees

Hey guys, I'm Makena Ralls, your current Junior Class President here at Santiago and I'm running for your 2017-2018 ASB president. I have been class president twice, and through my two years of ASB, I have gained not only presidential experience, but also a love for the work and a passion for the job. I have committed myself to putting in the work for every position I’ve held in ASB, and I can assure you I won’t stop now. Being your ASB President is more important to me than I can let you know in a one minute speech. I knew my Freshmen year at Santiago that I needed to be ASB President, not because I want my voice to be heard, but because I want your voices, the student body, to be heard. That’s what ASB stands for: Associated Student Body. And that’s why I’m here, standing on a podium, pouring my soul’s ambitions out to you for. I want to fight your fight. Because, if I’m elected President, it’s not only my fight anymore. You deserve to have your sophomore, junior, or senior year be better than you ever imagined. Your voice needs to be heard, so ASB can execute what you want as best as possible. But first, you must speak. Speak your mind, and please make me your President. I want to take this year and build upon it, pushing every limit turn what we have into something we never knew we could accomplish. Over my time in office, I have proven myself worthy of this position through my integrity, motivation, and my overall character. I have been working towards this for some time now, and I trust that my qualifications are worthy of your vote. I care for you, student body, and I am not afraid to stand up for what you want and what I think is right. Who I am speaks for itself, and I am confident that with your support, together we can continue our track record of greatness and set new standards for the years to come. I would be honored to receive your vote and serve you as the next ASB president of Santiago high school. Thank you for listening! And don't forget; avoid the dilemma, vote for Makena

What’s up Sharks, I’m Izzi Volonte and I am running to be your ASB President. Currently, I am the ASB Commissioner of Hospitality, the Secretary of Eco Club, and an active volunteer and public speaker for both human and animal rights. I know that being elected President would mean taking on a big job, possibly the biggest in ASB, but I believe that my compassion for others, dedication to everything I do, leadership skills, and ability to collaborate and communicate would definitely benefit this school’s growth and the leadership of its incredible student body. My goals as ASB President would be to bring more new and unique ideas while keeping in mind the desires and needs of the student body and their ability to actively participate in school events. I know it's tough to please everyone but I will do my best to give you a voice and a place at Santiago. I would like to maintain the immense support and celebration of our athletic programs while expanding that support to our performing arts, clubs, and academic organizations. And finally, I want to continue to be the best we can be together. I know I’m asking a lot of you to put all your trust in me, but I will fight for you, I am willing to go the extra mile, and I am determined to make this next year the best of your highschool career. So let’s get busy and vote Izzi for ASB President. Goodluck to my fellow candidates, thank you, and go Sharks!

Pg. 2 - ASB Vice President Candidate(s)

Hey guys, I’m Sabrina Finley, and I’m running for ASB Vice President. You won’t listen to my speech right now. You won’t. So here’s the thing: In ASB, we ask for forgiveness, not for permission. We are well acquainted with the fine line between scheme and scam, and do our best to test it at every chance we get. We strive to achieve wow factors, simply to prove Santiago is, always has been, and always will be the best school in the Inland Empire. We seek improvement, and we won’t stop being extra until we’ve answered every demand in the book. I don’t want to be ASB Vice President for college apps or for the title or so I can become the next Michael Scott or Professor Umbridge or Kylo Ren. I would actually take any position in ASB gladly for no reason other than the fact that I credit my character to the personalities and traditions I’ve become aquatinted with through ASB. I could sit here and write a five page soliloquy about how I’ve been in leadership since 5th grade or how I’ve spent a year on e-board and no hell broke loose or how I make a mean balloon arch. But there are more important things. ASB is the best part of my day. And I think that’s the thing you should know about me. Here’s the thing: I will ask for forgiveness instead of permission for you. I will scheme for you. I will achieve wow factors for you. I will answer your demands. And I will never scam you. If you’re still doubting me, just think about it. Sharks can’t swim without their Fin. So vote Finley for ASB VP.

Pg. 3 - ASB Secretary Candidate(s)

Good afternoon Sharks. My name is Savannah Sanabia, and I want to be your ASB Secretary. I have been in ASB for two years, I am currently Treasurer of Corona’s National Charity League, and I have had leadership experience in middle school. In ASB this year, I have been in charge of planning all of the rallies! I firmly believe that you are capable of being a leader in every aspect of your life. I have learned to be a leader, but every great leader also needs to know how to follow. As your ASB Secretary, I would be willing to follow your lead. I would represent your wants, and be your voice to make sure your opinions are heard, even if you feel voiceless. I work hard at everything that I do, and everyday I strive to put others’ needs before my own. As your ASB Secretary, I will put your needs before my own. Please let me lead you. Vote for me for ASB Secretary, and together we can continue to make Santiago the “Home of Scholars, Achievers and Champions.” Thank you.

Hi, I’m Annie Swierczek and I am running for secretary for the executive board of ASB. In my three years of being at Santiago, I see all the hard work and effort ASB does in order for the students to have a great high school experience. Being your secretary will allow me to be apart of that and make your high school years better and more enjoyable than ever before. Although most the work I would be doing is behind the scenes, it is essential that ASB has a dedicated secretary to allow everything from the clubs to school events to run smoothly. I will be a new face in ASB, with new ideas in order to do a great job for the 2017-2018 school year. I hope when it comes to voting week, you choose me, Annie Swierczek, as your ASB Secretary. Thank you.

Pg. 4 - ASB Treasurer

Hey guys! I’m Erin Alexander a current Junior here at Santiago and I’m campaigning to be your next ASB Treasurer. Why you ask? Well, it all began when I was a little girl and a wise man once told me, “Erin..some men are born treasurers, some achieve treasury, and others have treasury thrust upon them.” Ever since that moment, I’ve known that being Santiago’s Treasurer was my destiny.(lol) Now some of you may be wondering why vote for me? But the question you should be asking yourself is, why not? Aside from my superb math skills, years of experience (yes, I am your current junior vice president), and my uncanny ability to count numbers, voting me for treasurer really just makes… cents;) But on the real, as treasurer I am determined to work my hardest to make sure that you guys, the student body, will never have to worry about the financial problems of our school, and that those problems are quickly solved to ensure the best high school experience possible for all of you. Being apart of ASB for the past 2 years has prepared me to take on this responsibility and I can assure all of you that I am the most qualified candidate for this job. Now I thought i’d end this speech with a deeply thought out, some may even say inspiring poem: Roses are red, money is green, I’ll be the best treasurer you have ever seen. Thank you guys and remember to vote Erin Alexander for your next ASB Treasurer!!!(:

Hello Santiago, in case you haven’t seen my posters among the literal thousands around school, I’m Meka, and I’m running to be your 2017-2018 ASB treasurer. Now I know some of you don’t really see the importance in these speeches but the effect they have on the next school year is like the difference between our CIF girls’ soccer team and Centennial’s girl soccer or the difference between our Rose Parade performers and Norco’s band, it’s pretty big. I don’t say that to bash their schools in any way, I say that to express the idea that Santiago strives for the best in whatever we do whether it’s sports, performing arts, or athletics. That same mentality of “striving for the best” is what I will bring to the plate if I were to serve as your ASB treasurer, whether it’s a fundraiser or event I’m involved in, I can promise you it will be great. I would aim to build on Santiago’s history of success as treasurer. If you all love Prom and Homecoming let’s attempt to build on those events through stronger fundraising for them. If you all love watching performing arts let’s try to back them through more support. If you all love the arts or fashion let’s try to get behind those with support and to better Santiago. My job as your treasurer beyond the fundraisers and events, would be to ensure that you all enjoy your next year at Santiago and that we have enough money to do so. So when you’re voting for your next ASB treasurer vote to help yourself, by voting Meka for ASB treasurer.

Hello all of Santiago, every student, every teacher, every person who goes out of their way to help one-another. So, as you know, every year, us students, the lifeblood of this amazing school, run for an elected position. I, McAuley Gallagher, am hoping to be elected as your ASB Treasurer for the following year. But, every person has their own individual traits, their strengths and their weaknesses that will determine how they will lead. The traits that I hold now, are not from my years in previous schools but from the years at Santiago, at this school. And it was this school that made me a leader, it was this school where all differing opinions were cherished, and it was this school where I plan to make an impact as your ASB Treasurer. An impact where every student's opinions matter. A change in the communication between the ASB Treasurer and you, every freshman, sophomore, Junior, and senior; your help and recommendations will be the great change I can implement this school year, and the rest to come. To be part of this leadership is to express the qualities that I can bring to office, the qualities in character and decisions alike, for one cannot exist without the other. And it is the qualities of leadership, compromise, and a strong will that I, McAuley Gallagher, can give to you all as the next ASB Treasurer.

Pg. 5 - Senior President Candidate(s)

Good morning/afternoon Santiago. My name is Conrad Borges and I’m running to be your Senior Class President for the Class of 2018. I know that making decisions such as this one can be tough. My opponents are truly phenomenal people and would all make good class officers. In the end it boils down to what kind of senior year you want. Although I will be new to ASB, that means new, fresh ideas for a memorable year, and of course, this won’t be my first leadership experience. Being a credited, spirited, responsible, and above all – selfless person, I can promise you a bright last year of high school. Under my guidance, I plan to make senior year what you want it to be. I look to make many of my decisions based upon conducted polls, collected votes, and consideration of your ideas to determine the events that will take place next year. I want you to take part in deciding dances, events, themes, even attire. Of course it will be up to myself and others in ASB to take care of the detail and put forth the product, but I want the basis of your senior year to be up to you, the seniors. To make the most of our last year, I plan to consistently organize social events that involve every one of us. Beach bon fires, movie nights, pot lucks, senior sunrise, maybe even a senior sunset! The sky is truly the limit. Whatever it takes, I promise you that I will do all I can to deliver an extraordinary year. So I leave with this final request: when considering this crucial decision about your senior year just think, “to be lit or not to be lit”– that is the question. Thank you for your time. Go Sharks.

Hey sharks! I want to start this off by thanking you for your time. I appreciate every one of you guys. You all are amazing, so here's a shoutout to you! My name is Leann Le and I am running for senior president. Juniors, this is specifically directed towards you guys because I know for a fact that you want your senior year to be the absolute greatest and the best that it can be. And I promise, right now, on March 7th, 2017, that I will listen to you and make sure your voice/input is heard and acted upon, and that I will do every single thing that my short&small but proactive, hardworking self is able to do *AND MORE*, to make sure that your senior year will be remembered. As for the other classes- freshmen, sophomores, and even the incoming freshmen, even though they're not here yet- I too will strive to do everything that I can in ASB in general to make sure that your years in high school at Santiago are phenomenal as well. Next year is going to be unforgettable; iconic things have yet to come and I would LOVE to help make those things happen as your senior president. Thank you.

I am here today to present my involvement in the student body program. My name is Eve Leung and I am running for senior vice president. As a committed, passionate, and compatible leader, I am willing to put forth my effort and time to prosper change and the involvement of students at this school. First off, I would like to achieve partnership with clubs all around campus and bring forth awareness to their beneficial causes, in order to, improve the Santiago school environment. Not only will this benefit the lives of students and bring social change, Santiago will create a greater impact among the community which will inspire students to be involved in activities that our school has to offer. Another goal I would like to achieve, as your senior vice president, is to consistently organize senior events that will make the most out of our last year of high school before transitioning into a life of a college student. My motivation to make this our best school year will make the graduating class of 2018 unforgettable, so make sure you cast your vote for me, Eve Leung, as your senior class vice president.

I will obviously not do anything I myself would not enjoy attending, that is why I would love to implement your ideas. Have an idea for a rally? I want to hear it! Hey guys, I’m Chloe Swierczek, and I’m running to be your Senior Class Vice President! There are high expectations to fulfill this role. Seniors are expected to be the best. We’re expected to top not only all other classes, but also all the other schools. We didn’t come here to lose, and we’ve been waiting three years to be on the top. So let’s be on top. I’m your highway there. Last year, I took on one of the hardest roles in ASB. I was dance commissioner and managed to get homecoming to have highest ticket sales of Santiago history. I’m not here to brag. I don’t need you all to praise me for what I’ve done in the past. I need to you to believe in what I can do in the future. I took a long time deciding what to run for. But I couldn’t deny the fact that I want to make senior year great. I want to win every Battle of the Classes. I want to win every class yell. I want us to be able to chant at rallies and experience what no other senior class has experienced. I want to make h18story. So let’s make h18tory. I’ve been here since day 1. I’ve witnessed firsthand what it takes to make our class section great. Let me prove it to you. I’m Chloe Swierczek, and I will make senior year h18tory. Fo’ sho vote Chlo, Senior Vice President.
