Ongoing Mentoring-The AVID teacher serves as a college advisor tracking the progress of each student towards college. Progress reports are used to track student performance.
The AVID Counselor-All AVID students are monitored and supported by a counselor (Mrs. Cifuentes) assigned to the program.
Academic Support-College tutors are paid to come into the AVID class and work with our students, helping them to become independent learners.
"College Going" Environment-The atmosphere in the class is motivating and students encourage each other to strive for their goals.
College Visits-All students are exposed directly to the colleges via campus visits, including the Sophomore "College Road trip" and the Junior Trip(Northern California).
College and Financial Aid Process-Starting the Junior Year, but primarily during senior year, students are given direct support in applying for scholarships and completing the financial aid process. Also, the students are monitored and supported in the college application process.
Guest Speakers-Students are exposed to various careers and the college life through the participation of guest speakers from various colleges and professional fields.
Reading and Writing-Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, and Reading are an integral part of the AVID class in order to enhance the student's skills.
Test Prep-Students are given direct support with critical exams; SAT, ACT, College Placement Test, etc.

Freshman Class:
Local College Fieldtrip
-Visit 2 local area 4 year colleges
Extended Fieldtrip
-Visit a college outside of our area
Sophomore Class:
Sophomore College Road Trip (Second Semester)
-Visit 5 Colleges in the Orange County and Los Angeles Area
-Two day fieldtrip in which students spend a night in Long Beach
Junior Class:
Junior Trip (in April)
-Students visit 9 to 10 colleges throughout central and northern California
-4 days and 3 nights in San Francisco
Senior Seminar:
One celebratory fieldtrip
-a fun night celebrating all of the classes accomplishments
