Theatre

Santiago’s award-winning Theatre Department does three main stage shows a year put on by the Theatre Production and Advanced Theatre classes.

The shows for next year are still being decided, but you can choose to be a part of the theatre program by seeing your counselor and enrolling in a theatre class!

Theatre Classes (Theatre 1 & 2)

Study the basics of Theatre: characterization, improv, comedy, drama, theatre history, and technical theatre. Perform scenes and monologues.

Advanced Classes (Theatre 3 & 4- by audition only)

Delve into playwriting, acting techniques, competitions, and perform in and produce shows. Students compete in a One Act Festival, the District Theatre Festival, and the Fullerton College High School Theatre Festival.

Theatre Production

This 7th period class produces one main stage play per semester. Includes acting and technical theatre— Lights, Sound, Props, Costumes and Makeup, Set, and Marketing.

International Thespian Society

Theatre’s Honor Society

We have a chapter of the International Thespian Society (ITS), the Educational Theatre Association’s (EDTA) student honor society for theatre. Members of ITS will meet roughly once a month and will have the option to attend the Thespian Festival and audition for colleges and universities. Students must acquire 10 points and attend regular meetings and events in order to be eligible to initiate into ITS. Each point is earned doing roughly 10 hours of work in the theatre. Once they have received their 10 points, they will pay a one-time initiation fee that gets them a one year subscription to Dramatics and their lifetime membership in ITS. You do not need to be inducted into ITS to participate in some of the activities!

If you have any questions about the theatre department, contact Ms. Beyer at [email protected]
