What is AFJROTC?

Santiago High School Air Force Junior ROTC invites you to join an exciting program for developing your leadership skills.

JROTC cadets are connected at SHS …they perform for home games, pep rallies, school assemblies, community events, parades and drill meets. They are achievers...attend flight academies, cyber academies, compete is national competitions. They are leaders...cadets get leadership experience through managing the corps of over 120 students. AFJROTC counts as PHYSICAL EDUCATION and elective credits at Santiago HS.

AFJROTC cadets can earn scholarships to attend private pilot school, earn cyber security certifications, and earn a  4-year full ride AFROTC scholarship after high school.

Cadets can receive 1 year of college AFROTC credit for 4 years of AFJROTC.

Plan to enlist in the military? Up to 2 stripes upon enlistment in exchange for JROTC training.



JROTC recruits students into the military. FALSE! JROTC does not recruit for the military. AFJROTC’s mission is to develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community.


Cadets are required to wear the uniform every day. FALSE! Cadets are only required to wear the uniform once per week and maintain USAF grooming standards.


There is a military obligation for taking JROTC. FALSE! There is no obligation to join what-so-ever.
