Class of 2021 Vote

Pg. 1 - ASB President Candidate (s)

Sabrina Finley

SABRINA FINLEY - I have been in asb for three years now, and i’ve been on e board for two of them My first e board built me up and trained me to take charge, to be someone others could rely on My second E-board humbled me and taught me to appreciate the quieter forms of leadership, the ones who don’t ask for gratitude but rather find peace in knowing they did well I want to do well. They are the reason I hope to be a part of a third e board. because they taught me what it was to have faith in a person. not to toot my own horn, but TOOT. I have faith in me, and so should you. I will not be the perfect president. I know myself too well. (those of you who know me can back me up on this one) but I will lead with passion and persistence and grace. I promise you, voting for me will not be a mistake. sharks can’t swim without their fin. I am Sabrina Finley and I hope to be your future president of ASB.

Meka Anyanwu

MEKA ANYANWU - Hello Santiago students and staff, I’m Meka Anyanwu, and I am running to be your next ASB President. For many of you, these ASB videos signal the time when “ASB people take up 10 minutes of my class, get elected and disappear after.” While I can relate to 10 minutes less of class, what I don’t relate to is the disappearance of ASB candidates after YOU, the student body, put them in their positions. Despite, YOU, the student body, placing us candidates in positions to represent you and your concerns, how many times have you seen the person you voted for last year, and will you ever see the people you vote for this year? My aim as your ASB president isn’t to just make a bunch of promises, wish you a good day, and ask you to vote for me, but to reflect YOUR opinions, YOUR wishes, YOUR voices. Voices asking for new dances for everyone to enjoy, voices asking for help supporting underrepresented sports, clubs, and performing arts, or even voices asking for an SHS Wakanda rally. So, allow me to promise you something, no candidate has promised before: communication, the voicing of your ideas and opinions, less restriction and more action. So, I won’t be taking up your 10 minutes of class to ask you to help put me in office, but to ask you to help Santiago truly understand those who we wish to represent, YOU, the student body. A vote for Meka is a vote for you, so vote US for ASB President!

Pg. 2 - ASB Vice President Candidate(s)

Michael Butorac

MICHAEL BUTORAC - Hello students and faculty of Santiago High school, my name is Michael Butorac and I am running for ASB Vice President. I have been involved in ASB for the last two years serving as class president, and I am confident that as your next ASB Vice President I will be able to do even more to improve the quality of activities, events and level of student participation here at Santiago. I promise that I will always do my best to represent all of the students here at Santiago and make sure your voices are heard, but we must work together to ensure that every student feels like their apart of the school. Only by getting involved can others make their high school experience more memorable. To borrow some words from another Michael, you’ve got to start with the person in the mirror. If we want to make the school a better place, we have to take a look at ourselves and make a change. Thank you all for your time and support, and please remember to vote for me, Michael Butorac for ASB Vice President. Again, that’s Mike B for ASB VP. Have a great day sharks!

Madi Pettijohn

MADI PETTIJOHN - Hello everyone! My name is Madi Pettijohn, and I’m running for ASB vice president. Being a guiding voice at Santiago, capable of cultivating positive change at our school, would mean the absolute world to me. After 2 years of class presidency, one year of dance advisor, and involvement with various other clubs on campus, I have gained the experience needed to lead the ASB class. If elected, I truly want to ensure that everyone in the student body feels equally involved in Santiago’s culture; from implementing student showcases, where we can highlight innovative minds and clubs during office hours, to enacting department-wide competitions to try and boost morale at every single sport on campus. Additionally, I want to create the most impactful “What If Week” Santiago has ever seen. ASB means the entire world to me. I promise to lead with a kind heart, and listen to the voices of all students. I promise to never stop creating or innovating because I know how much potential this school has to be great. And above all, I promise to make 2019 the greatest year the students at this school will experience. With your vote, this is all possible. Thank you!!

Pg. 3 - ASB Secretary Candidate(s)

Nicole Choi

NICOLE CHOI - Hey Sharks! My name is Nicole Choi, and I am running for your ASB Secretary. I’ve been involved in ASB since my sophomore year, first as your Commissioner of Athletics and now speaking to you as Class of 2019’s Junior President. Drake once said, “Sometimes it’s the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination.” I’ve learned so much throughout my high school journey both about our school and the students at our school. Hearing all of your opinions, the good and the bad, in regards to all the events ASB has put on in the past, has really motivated me to do whatever I can to make each future event the best that it could possibly be. If you guys think about it, high school really isn’t that long. We should be making memories that will last us a lifetime. Well, that’s what I’m here for. If you vote for me, I promise that I will do everything in my power to represent you guys and what you guys want. You’ve made the right CHOIce before, so make the right CHOIce again, by making it your goal to take control to vote Nicole as your ASB Secretary.

Sandra Galvez

SANDRA GALVEZ - Hello, I am Sandra Galvez and I have decided to run for asb treasurer. Not only am I currently Vice president for unity but also for Red Cross. Although all the candidates up here are unique individuals I would like to talk a bit more about myself. I am Trilingual; I speak English, Spanish, and even French, I have gone to represent Santiago at chapman university for a leadership seminar, and I have managed to maintain a 4.0+ GPA for most of high school. I have been involved in many extra circular activities my whole high school experience and have loved it. Although I heard many No’s from many places, I was able to find my niche which is the unity class. I have loved being able to give back to the community and especially all of you. I hope that if elected I Can have solutions to many of your concerns and be able to represent your voice. I encourage many of you to find your niche because once you do that is what makes your high school experience memorable.

Justin Munder

JUSTIN MUNDER - Hi Sharks I’m Justin Munder and I am running for your ASB treasurer in the upcoming school year. In my years of attending Santiago and with my leadership experience in taking part in your ASB I have only seen greatness, spirit, integrity, and school pride throughout our campus and I promise I will expand these qualities to new heights to ensure that your school year is nothing less than perfection. I’m currently a 3 year member of your national and state winning dance team and I can prove that my spirit for this school goes beyond just dancing. I will prove that I am confident that by being your treasurer I will only lead your year in organization, persistence, liability, and enable our campus to thrive economically. I will prove that I am more than capable to handle all of our school funds through my hard work, organization, and honesty. I will prove that I am especially passionate for our school and I am ready to uphold all responsibilities and take action as your treasurer. Thank you for your time and remember sharks no need to wonder just vote for Munder. I won’t let you down.

Ernie Padilla

ERNIE PADILLA - Hey Sharks! I’m Ernie Padilla, the current Freshmen Class President and I’m running to be your ASB Treasurer. You may be wondering why I’m running for treasurer when I’ll only be a sophomore next year, but, apart from my great math skills, I believe I have the leadership qualities needed for this position. As long as I can remember, I have been in leadership classes like ASB, and I have spent countless hours dedicated to helping my school. As ASB Treasurer, my two favorite subjects would be combined together. One being math, and the other being ASB. So, in other words, the position of ASB Treasurer would not only be a great honor, but it would also be the perfect job for me to have. This past year in ASB, I have learned so much and I’ve grown tremendously as both a leader and a person for my school community. Knowing all the responsibilities Treasurer holds, I know that I am more than qualified to carry out this position next school year. Thank you all for taking your time to listen to my speech, and I hope you all vote Ernie Padilla for ASB Treasurer.

Pg. 6 - Sophomore Vice President Candidate(s)

Seth Boren

SETH BOREN - Hi, I’m Seth Boren. I’m running for sophomore class Vice President. I want to represent you and be your voice for your visions and concerns. We live in an era where people are more comfortable communicating on their cellphones than face to face. This is at the cost of losing true social interaction, which is the most valuable thing that we are supposed to gain in high school. I’m responsible, hardworking, and the perfect candidate to make your high school experience what it is truly supposed to be. I started running Cross Country at Santiago to get involved. To my surprise, I surpassed my own expectations and personal records. This motivates me to want to help my fellow students find their passion and do their best. It has also taught me to work as a team. I can’t promise you extra lunch time but what I can promise you is that I will be that guy. THAT GUY that will always greet you with a smile. THAT GUY that is always willing to talk when you need a friend. THAT GUY that will hear your voice and opinions and relay them to everyone in A.S.B. I’m here to serve you.

Sara Lerner

SARA LERNER - Hello Santiago High School, my name is Sara Lerner and I am running for sophomore vice president. If you elect me for sophomore vice president, my goal is to help enhance school spirit and create a friendly and safe learning environment for student success. I would listen to every student’s voice and work hard for you. As your vice president I will stand beside the sophomore president to offer support and always be there for them and all of ASB. With me comes a creative well rounded personality that will offer new ways to solve the situation, past leadership experience from NCL, which stands for National Charity League, and other sources, and a friendly face you can turn to. I hope to be that familiar face in the halls when you see me and be approachable to all. If you decide to elect me I will be your voice no matter how big or small your concern is, so let us all work together to make our imprint on Santiago High School. Hears to a great new school year and I hope you decide to elect me as sophomore vice president.

Jayden Maramis

JAYDEN MARAMIS - I am Jayden Maramis and I am running for Sophomore Vice President. Dwight Schrute (from The Office) has said, “I am ready to face any challenges that might be foolish enough to face me.” I am excited for the opportunities that winning Sophomore Vice President can present. To the ⅛ of the people actually listening to me present this speech, with your vote, I promise to work to the best of my ability to make our sophomore year as enjoyable as possible. Thank you and Vote Jayden for Sophomore VP.
